Wayfinding Proposal

Effective way-finding can speak volumes about a place. It allows for easy navigation which in turn livens the location. The current way-finding system at Camp Buck Toms is a mix of past and current designs. The different uses of typeface, layout, and color makes the signage a little confusing. My proposal is a system of signage that seeks to remedy this. This system is more modern by taking inspiration from places where navigation is key such as hospitals or airports and putting a little spin on them by simply changing the materials in which they are constructed. The main materials are wood and paint, no different to what is used now, but applied a little differently. A router machine is used to create a legible mono-spaced typeface that allows for better legibility from afar. Color is used to ensure the signage stands out from the surrounding trees and brush. The colors also have a key to them that allow for more coordination throughout.
